A Patient’s Story

From professional athlete, to waking from spinal surgery with a paralysed left leg. James spent a year in a wheelchair and the following 5 years on crutches. Having tried many therapists and having been told nothing could be done... James sceptically agreed to try osteopathy at ThePainClinic in Oxford. Watch James' incredible journey in the video below.

Treatments

Osteopathy at The Pain Clinic in Oxford can help provide relief for the body’s structural, mechanical and functional problems in people of all ages. Here are a list of our services.

  • Revolution Rehab Courses

12 week courses for progressively rehabilitating your body, identifying restrictions, biomechanical weaknesses and misfiring muscle systems, then only after corrected these dysfunctions do we strengthen your structure as a fully functioning machine.

  • Medical Acupuncture

The insertion of fine needles into specific points in the body helps relieve tension and musculoskeletal pain by releasing chemicals thought to help promote the body’s natural healing process.

  • Osteopathy

Combination of manipulation, mobilisation and soft tissue release in order to increase joint mobility, release muscle tension, reduce inflammation, enhance blood & nerve supply and reduce pain.

  • Sports Massage

Helps to mobilise muscles, fascia, nerves and joints, facilitating the body’s inherent ability to self heal. Also helps to reduce injury risk, increase blood flow, improve flexibility and range of motion and relieve muscle tension.

  • Kinesiology Taping

Our kinesiology taping helps support muscles, remove congestion, correct misalignment and trigger endogenous healing.

  • Prescription Orthotics

Following foot and gait assessments, orthotics are customised for individual requirements and dysfunctions.

FROM PAIN TO PERFORMANCE

The osteopathy service at The Pain Clinic in Oxford is one of a select number of clinics in the country to recognise and embrace the latest principles of Applied Functional Science (AFS).  AFS was developed by physical therapists and biomechanists, Dr Gary Gray and Dr Dave Tiberio.  Their work has helped to pioneer the practice of physical therapy, injury prevention, rehabilitation, and strength and conditioning.

Our clinicians also have additional qualifications in Strength and Conditioning, and Sports Medicine, which enables us to lead you from pain to performance.  Regardless of your background or your end goal, whether you are an elite athlete, or you just want to get up out of bed without pain, we can help!
